Privacy Policy

Last Updated: September 2026

Safe Kitchen ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our Safe Kitchen mobile application and website (collectively, the "Service").

1. Information We Collect

We may collect information about you in a variety of ways. The information we may collect via the Service includes:

2. Use of Your Information

Having accurate information about you permits us to provide you with a smooth, efficient, and customized experience. Specifically, we may use information collected about you to:

We do not use your data for advertising, we do not sell it, and we do not share it with data brokers.

3. Disclosure of Your Information

We may share information we have collected about you in certain situations. Your information may be disclosed as follows:

4. Data Retention and Account Deletion

We retain your compliance records for as long as your account remains active. UK food safety guidance generally recommends keeping SFBB records for at least 12 months so they are available for EHO verification.

You can permanently delete your account and all associated personal data from within the app at any time: Settings > System > Delete Account. This erases your records, uploaded files and login. You can also email support@safekitchenapp.co.uk from your account address to request deletion. Backups are purged within 30 days.

Deleting your account does not cancel a subscription bought through Google Play or the App Store. Cancel that in your store account settings.

5. Your Rights

Under UK and EU GDPR you have the right to access, correct, export or erase your personal data, and to object to or restrict its processing. Contact us at support@safekitchenapp.co.uk and we will respond within one month. You also have the right to complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO).

6. Sales Visits and Business Contacts

Our field sales team contacts food businesses using the public Food Standards Agency hygiene rating data (Open Government Licence). During a visit a representative may record the name, role, phone number and email of the person they spoke to, visit notes and photos of the premises frontage, on the basis of our legitimate interest in offering Safe Kitchen to food businesses. These details are used only to follow up about Safe Kitchen, and we send marketing emails only to people who agreed to receive them. If a business is not interested we stop contacting it and delete the contact details after 12 months, or sooner on request. An account set up with a representative is linked to them so they can be credited for the sale; this gives them no access to your kitchen records.

7. Children's Privacy

Safe Kitchen is a business application intended for commercial food operators and their staff. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 16.

8. Security of Your Information

We use administrative, technical, and physical security measures to help protect your personal information. Data is encrypted in transit, and access to each business's records is restricted to that business's authenticated users. While we have taken reasonable steps to secure the personal information you provide to us, please be aware that despite our efforts, no security measures are perfect or impenetrable.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The date at the top of this page shows when it was last revised, and significant changes will be announced in the app.
